Where to go in January is not where to go in June. A season-by-season guide for Indian couples.
The best honeymoon destination depends more on your dates than on your budget. Here is how we advise couples across the year.
January to March: Kashmir for snow, the Maldives for clear skies, and Southeast Asia at its most comfortable. This is peak season for most of these, so book 60 days ahead.
April to June: Himachal, Uttarakhand and the hill stations come into their own, and Bali is dry and pleasant. Europe opens up from late May if you are planning a longer trip.
July to September: the shoulder season. Kerala is green and quiet, Goa is empty and cheaper, and Bali stays dry while most of India receives monsoon rain. Some of the best-value honeymoons we plan fall in these months.
October to December: the sweet spot. Rajasthan and Kerala are comfortable, the Andamans reopen after the monsoon, and Dubai's weather becomes pleasant again.
One piece of advice that applies all year: the season sets the shortlist, but the pacing sets the trip. Two nights somewhere good beats four nights somewhere rushed, every time.
