Kashmir
Still water. Snow peaks. A valley that keeps its promises.
Overview
Kashmir is the closest India gets to alpine scenery. Dal Lake in the early morning, the cable car up Gulmarg, pine forests around Pahalgam — the valley works in every season and changes character completely between them.
Srinagar's houseboats, Gulmarg's meadows, Pahalgam's river valleys and Sonamarg's glacier views.

Six days covers Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam well. Add Sonamarg for a seventh day if you enjoy high-altitude landscapes.
Layers. Even in summer, evenings in Gulmarg and Pahalgam get cold. In winter you need proper thermals, waterproof shoes and gloves.
