Destination Guide
Himachal
Mountain air. Quiet roads. Endless views.
Overview
Himachal is the closest most of us will get to another world without leaving the country. Apple orchards give way to deodar forests, which give way to bare, snow-lined ridgelines. It suits first-time mountain travellers as much as it suits people who have been coming back for twenty years.
Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and the valleys in between — a state built for slow mornings and long drives.

Questions Travellers Ask.
Everything we wish someone had told us before a first trip to Himachal.
Six days covers Shimla and Manali comfortably. If you want to add Dharamshala or Kasol, plan eight to nine days so you are not spending every second day in a car.
Snow usually falls between late December and February in Manali, Solang and the higher reaches. Shimla sees lighter snow, typically in January.
Yes. It is one of the most requested honeymoon destinations in India — quiet resorts, private balconies and short travel days.
