Destination Guide
Kerala
Green stillness. Slow water. Long afternoons.
Overview
Kerala moves slower than anywhere else in the country, and that is exactly the point. Days are spent on the water, in tea gardens, or doing very little beside a beach. It suits honeymooners, families travelling with older parents, and anyone actively trying to rest.
Backwater houseboats, Munnar's tea hills, quiet beaches and Ayurveda — the calmest holiday on the Indian map.

Questions Travellers Ask.
Everything we wish someone had told us before a first trip to Kerala.
Yes. A day cruise shows you the backwaters; an overnight stay lets you watch the villages wake up and eat freshly cooked karimeen on board. It is the single most memorable night of most Kerala trips.
September to March is comfortable across the state. August brings Onam and the snake boat races, but also heavy rain.
It is one of the best. Distances are short, the terrain is flat in the backwaters, and houseboats and resorts are designed for slower travel.
