Meghalaya — Mist, waterfalls, and bridges grown from roots.

Destination Guide

Meghalaya

Mist, waterfalls, and bridges grown from roots.

Overview

Meghalaya is India's wettest, greenest state and one of its least visited. Waterfalls everywhere you look, limestone caves, and the famous living root bridges that are grown rather than built. Roads are slow, so build in time and stay two nights in each place.

Cherrapunji's living root bridges, Dawki's glass-clear river and Shillong's music-filled evenings.

Questions Travellers Ask.

Everything we wish someone had told us before a first trip to Meghalaya.

Distances look short on a map but roads are hilly and slow. We plan realistic driving days and always include buffer time, which makes the trip comfortable rather than exhausting.

The Nongriat trek involves roughly 3,500 steps each way on a well-maintained stone path. It is demanding but achievable for anyone reasonably fit. Shorter viewpoints are available if you prefer not to descend.

Indian citizens do not need an inner line permit for Meghalaya. Foreign nationals should register on arrival, and our team will guide you through it.
